— In 2017 a number of UK Aqua Park Operators got together to discuss safety and standards across the industry. Water Safety being paramount, it was an easy decision to decide to work with the RLSS with regards to standards and qualifications at our parks. During 2018, the RLSS contacted all of the Aqua Park operators within the UK and IRL and invited them to engage in the process of creating an association for our Industry. Minimum operating standards were created and agreed upon a meeting held at the RLSS headquarters, in which all the operators present agreed (approx 40 Parks). Since then we have introduced in partnership an accreditation process that essentially audits the operational management of the parks and ensures compliance with the agreed operating standards. We have also worked on an Aqua Park bolt-on module for Lifeguards, introduced more trainer assessors for the qualifications - both of which increase the safety standards delivered across parks in the UK & IRL.
